“What is a Normal Life?” March 5, 2026

People are restless and making it known that they can’t wait to go back to what they call “Having a normal life.” They are even demanding that the government, whether local or national, do the same. I would ask, “What is a normal life?”

Is it doing everything that you please without accountability to anyone, or is it something else?

Normal is an interesting word that can mean many things. What is considered normal for one person can be entirely different for another person. If your norm is to have the power to control someone or someone’s future, and that power is suddenly taken away, then your norm has been interrupted.

The last pandemic disrupted people’s normal lives, and their outlook forced many to conform for the safety of themselves and others around them. If you neglect people who are important in your life, for selfish reasons, you benefit no one, not even yourself. Some of the things that people “normally” do or did are proven to be unhealthy for others.

A pandemic will force all of us to consider the reality and brevity of life. For many, it was grievous to be unable to be present or say goodbye to loved ones who lingered in hospital beds or alone at home until succumbing to the end of life. I can’t think of anyone who would want to leave this life… alone!

If, in the past, your “Normal Life” was filled with misfortune and misery, hopefully you will be able to aspire to something greater in the months to come. From the very beginning, life is all about choices and being empowered to live with the consequences of those choices. Wise counsel is always available if we seek it out.

My purpose and goal are to live the “Blessed Life” where we treat each other as we desire to be treated and do more whenever possible. God is honored and glorified when the dignity of mankind, who are created in the image and likeness, is revered.

Last, but not least, let us live as a grateful nation with Christ in our hearts, exemplifying God’s love to all people with grace, and to enter Heaven with all who are like-minded.

Proverbs 14:34 NLT “Godliness makes a nation great, but sin is a disgrace to any people.”
