“Living with Eternity in View” January 29, 2026

Individuals have said in times past that the older you get, the wiser you become, or that wisdom comes with age. I am not sure that is a true statement, but there may be some truth to it. While life’s situations offer opportunities to gain wisdom, not all experiences lead to its development.

If a person or something isn’t good for us, why put ourselves in harm’s way? But people still do, repeatedly. We easily create habits that, over time, become strongholds that prevent us from future joys.

For most human beings, the fear of the future is a constant battle between the will of the flesh and the will of the spirit. We wrestle with “What will happen if I…? What will I do if I get what I want?” In all this, regardless, embedded in our hearts is the hope that our lives will somehow be better.

It is a good idea to have a plan, if possible. As a matter of fact, you should plan for the future, especially when you have been informed of that future. Each day you should live with that future in view. In every way we think, desire, do, and converse should be formed by what a promised future may hold. There is a significant difference between worrying about things you have no power over and resting in confidence about what God has promised.

If we trust God to forgive us when we confess our sins, surely, we can trust Him with our future. 1 Peter 1:3-5 NLT 3 All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. It is by His great mercy that we have been born again because God raised Jesus Christ from the dead. Now we live with great expectations, 4 and we have a priceless inheritance—an inheritance that is kept in heaven for you, pure and undefiled, beyond the reach of change and decay. 5 And through your faith, God is protecting you by his power until you receive this salvation, which is ready to be revealed on the last day for all to see.

If Heaven is in your future, focus on the plan… not the circumstances!
