Let us not forget that the Pandemic changed many people’s everyday lives and their outlook on life. It forced us to change our behavior for our own safety and the safety of others. It was no longer a time to do as you please without being accountable to others. If we chose to neglect the procedures for our own personal feelings or other selfish reasons, we benefited no one, including ourselves… death was a possibility.
People were restless and made it known to the local and national government officials that they wanted to return to their everyday lives. For many, it was very grievous not to be present with loved ones who were hospitalized without visitors… leaving us forever. Families not only lost members and friends but also their livelihoods to maintain homes. What many considered living a normal life was no longer their reality, and the pandemic forced people to consider the brevity of life.
Today, we face other challenges that may require us to draw on different disciplines and make sacrifices, as nothing remains the same. As we overcome past misfortune and misery, let us apply the lessons learned and make the necessary changes to reach our goal while we have the use of our faculties. Too often, life happens, and we find ourselves facing significant changes when our bodies betray us. We must consider the day when we are no longer physically or mentally capable of accomplishing tasks that once took minutes to achieve.
It’s time to keep our focus on the things that have eternal value, if the ultimate goal is to spend eternity in Heaven with our loved ones who lived with the same hope. Heaven is a place where there is no suffering, sickness, sorrow, disease, death, or decay. It is a place of peace and joy everlasting. When you ask people where they would like to spend eternity… heaven or hell? Heaven is the preferred choice.
We have been promised Heaven as we follow Jesus Christ. John 14:3 ESV “And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also.”
