“Who do you say that I am?” This statement was taken from Matthew 16:12-20 ESV. This is the question that Jesus asked His disciples, which included His original twelve.
They had come to the region of Caesarea Philippi on their way to Jerusalem. It was a time for Jesus to teach them as they grew nearer to the time of Jesus’ Crucifixion. They gave a few answers: John the Baptist, Elijah, Jeremiah, or one of the prophets.
He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?” Simon Peter said, “You are the Christ, the Son of the Living God.” Jesus replied to his declaration, “Blessed are you, Simon Bar Jonah! For flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but my Father which is in Heaven.”
You can read this passage for yourselves and learn more about what happens next in the lives of Peter, the disciples, and Jesus. We all should be keenly aware of the purpose of Jesus Christ coming into the world. Most people know John 3:16-17 in the Bible by heart. It begins with “God so loved the world that He gave His only Son…
We are all headed toward an eternal destination that can’t be avoided. There is a reason for all the trouble, toil, destruction and death in this world. In recent months, our Bible study group has studied the Book of Revelations using Dr. J. Vernon McGee’s Commentaries.Additionally, we have almost completed our study of “The Book of Signs” by Dr. David Jeremiah. We have learned a lot and have also discovered that most of our questions can’t be answered until Christ returns to receive His Church (The Body of Believers).
Whenever a person is aware or knows of impending danger or threat to others, we are told to sound a warning, speak up and say something. So, I am treating this as an alarm going forward. One day we will all have to give a personal answer to the question, “Who do you say that I am?” I you are alive and cognizant, then you have an opportunity to make sure that you have the correct answer. Your answer should not just be in words, but in the life that you are living.
Don’t be left behind when Christ returns; you have a chance to make a change now, as you are observing all the misery in the world. We can see that no one has any substantial answers. Your assignment is to look up this verse, Hebrews 10:25. Don’t isolate yourselves, but be encouraged, strengthened, and protected with wisdom and with 1 Peter 5:8 NKJV.
I did not complete all the scriptures because I have only so many words that I can share with you in this article.
