For His Eternal Purpose – Part 1

GENESIS 1:26-28, 2:7 NKJV

1:26 Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.”

27 So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.

28 Then God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.”

2:7 And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being.

Applications:

When God breathed life into clay, man was created as an eternal being.

In death your body will return to the earth and your eternal soul returns to God.

His Great and Precious Promises – Part 2

2 Peter 1:5-11 (NKJV)

5  But also for this very reason, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue, to

    virtue knowledge,

to knowledge self-control, to self-control perseverance, to perseverance

    godliness,

to godliness brotherly kindness, and to brotherly kindness love.

For if these things are yours and abound, you will be neither barren nor

unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

For he who lacks these things is shortsighted, even to blindness, and has

forgotten that he was cleansed from his old sins.

10  Therefore, brethren, be even more diligent to make your call and election

      sure, for if you do these things you will never stumble;

11  for so an entrance will be supplied to you abundantly into the everlasting

kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Applications:

1.  By the knowledge of God and Jesus our Lord, we have the keys to a fruitful and powerful life.

2.  By our love for others, it is undeniable to the world that God is with us.

Sermon Title:  From the Familar to Faith

Mark 6:1-6 (NKJV)

1 Then He went out from there and came to His own country, and His disciples followed Him.

2 And when the Sabbath had come, He began to teach in the synagogue. And many hearing Him were astonished, saying, “Where did this Man get these things? And what wisdom is this which is given to Him, that such mighty works are performed by His hands!

3 Is this not the carpenter, the Son of Mary, and brother of James, Joses, Judas, and Simon? And are not His sisters here with us?” So they were offended at Him.

But Jesus said to them, “A prophet is not without honor except in his own country, among his own relatives, and in his own house.”

5 Now He could do no mighty work there, except that He laid His hands on a few sick people and healed them.

6 And He marveled because of their unbelief. Then He went about the villages in a circuit, teaching.

Title:  Celebrating our Dependence

Colossians 3:1-4 (ESV)

1 If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God.

2 Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth.

3 For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God.

4 When Christ who is your life appears, then you also will appear with him in glory.

Applications:

We celebrate our dependence on the Lord because He is Trustworthy and Faithful.

We celebrate our dependence on the Lord because without Him we can do nothing.

Title:  Making It Count – Part 3

John 15:19-20 (NIV)

19 If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own. As it is, you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world. That is why the world hates you.

20 Remember what I told you: ‘A servant is not greater than his master.’ If they persecuted me, they will persecute you also. If they obeyed my teaching, they will obey yours also.

 Applications:

If you know the Truth, take your stand… there is no compromise for the Truth to make your life count.

You have been entrusted with the Holy Spirit to be fruitful in all that you do to make your life count.

No One Is Without A Perfect Father

Psalm 68: 5  (NIV)

A father to the fatherless, a defender of widows, is God in his holy dwelling.

Applications:

We all have the opportunity in our brokenness to have a perfect relationship with a Loving Father.
The love of God demonstrated by the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus heals us from the wounds of abuse and abandonment.

Making It Count – Part 2

John 15:17-20 (NIV)

17 This is my command: Love each other.

18 If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first.

If you know the Truth, take your stand… there is no compromise for the Truth.

You have been entrusted with the Holy Spirit to be fruitful in all that you do.
