Making It Count – Part 1

John 15:15-20 (NIV)

15  I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master’s business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you.

16 You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit—fruit that will last—and so that whatever you ask in my name the Father will give you.

17 This is my command: Love each other.

18 If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first.

19 If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own. As it is, you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world. That is why the world hates you.

20 Remember what I told you: ‘A servant is not greater than his master.’ If they persecuted me, they will persecute you also. If they obeyed my teaching, they will obey yours also.

Applications:

If you know the Truth, take your stand… there is no compromise for the Truth.

You have been entrusted with the Holy Spirit to be fruitful in all that you do.

Living Expectantly – Part 2 – Under the Influence

1 Peter 4: 1-8 (ESV)

1 Since therefore Christ suffered in the flesh, arm yourselves with the same way of thinking, for whoever has suffered in the flesh has ceased from sin,

2  so as to live for the rest of the time in the flesh no longer for human passions but for the will of God.

3  For the time that is past suffices for doing what the Gentiles want to do, living in sensuality, passions, drunkenness, orgies, drinking parties, and lawless idolatry.

4  With respect to this they are surprised when you do not join them in the same flood of debauchery, and they malign you;

5  but they will give account to him who is ready to judge the living and the dead.

6  For this is why the gospel was preached even to those who are dead, that though judged in the flesh the way people are, they might live in the spirit the way God does.

7  The end of all things is at hand; therefore, be self-controlled and sober-minded for the sake of your prayers.

8  Above all, keep loving one another earnestly, since love covers a multitude of sins.

Applications:

Remain under the influence of the Holy Spirit and the Word of God.

Walk in the Spirit by redeeming the time and share the Love of God.

The Great Expectation

Due to changes in YouTube, downloading of videos is broken for the time being. We are hopeful the download applications we use will be fixed to work with the new interface. For now each section of the normal video will be listed individually.

This is the service and sermon for May 23, 2021 which is Pentecost Sunday

Title –  The Great Expectation

Text  –  Luke 24:44-49 (ESV)

44 Then he said to them, “These are my words that I spoke to you while I was still with you, that everything written about me in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms must be fulfilled.”

45 Then he opened their minds to understand the Scriptures,

46 and said to them, “Thus it is written, that the Christ should suffer and on the third day rise from the dead,

47 and that repentance for the forgiveness of sins should be proclaimed in his name to all nations, beginning from Jerusalem.

48 You are witnesses of these things.

49 And behold, I am sending the promise of my Father upon you. But stay in the city until you are clothed with power from on high.”

Applications:

You have the wherewithal to bring Glory to God.

You have been chosen to use your freedom to free others.

Living Expectantly – Part 1

John 15:1-5 (NLT)

1.  I am the true grapevine, and my Father is the gardener.

2.  He cuts off every branch of mine that doesn’t produce fruit, and he prunes

the branches that do bear fruit so they will produce even more.

3.  You have already been pruned and purified by the message I have given

     you.

4.  Remain in me, and I will remain in you. For a branch cannot produce fruit if

it is severed from the vine, and you cannot be fruitful unless you remain in

     me.

5.  Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in

them, will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing.

Applications:

We must remain connected to our life line for vitality.

Together we edify the Body of Christ.

Time to Remember – An Honorable Mother

Philippians 4:8-9 (NKJV)

8 Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things.

The things which you learned and received and heard and saw in me, these do, and the God of peace will be with you.

Applications:

To be an Honorable Person requires you to live by the Truth.

To be an Honorable Person requires you to speak the Truth in Love.

Living to Bring God Glory

2 Timothy 3:1-5 (NKJV)

1 But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come:

For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,

3 unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good,

4 traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God,

5 having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away!

Applications:

The climate of our world requires us to be grounded in the Word of God.

The climate of our world demands that we walk and operate in the Holy Spirit.

We are blessed to be a blessing to others.

Now Taking Reservations – Part 2

John 14:15-21 (NKJV)

15 “If you love me, you will keep my commandments.

16 And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper, to be with you forever,

17 even the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees him nor knows him. You know him, for he dwells with you and will be in you.

18 “I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you.

19 Yet a little while and the world will see me no more, but you will see me. Because I live, you also will live.

20 In that day you will know that I am in my Father, and you in me, and I in you.

21 Whoever has my commandments and keeps them, he it is who loves me. And he who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I will love him and manifest myself to him.”

Applications:

The Holy Spirit inspires us to walk in Loving obedience to God.

Walking in obedience to God’s word allows Jesus to manifest Himself to us.

Now Taking Reservations

John 14:1-6 (NKJV)

1 “Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me.

2 In my Father’s house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you?

3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also.

4 And you know the way to where I am going.”

5 Thomas said to him, “Lord, we do not know where you are going. How can we know the way?”

6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

Applications:

Every person has the opportunity to go to Heaven but procrastination can be the death of your success.

A person is willing to invest in the things they value.

Love’s Supremacy – Easter Sunday

Luke 24:1-8 (ESV)

1 But on the first day of the week, at early dawn, they went to the tomb, taking the spices they had prepared.

2 And they found the stone rolled away from the tomb,

3 but when they went in they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus.

4 While they were perplexed about this, behold, two men stood by them in dazzling apparel.

5 And as they were frightened and bowed their faces to the ground, the men said to them, “Why do you seek the living among the dead?

6 He is not here, but has risen. Remember how he told you, while he was still in Galilee,

7 that the Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men and be crucified and on the third day rise.”

8 And they remembered his words,

Applications:

Love has everything to do with your eternal state of being.

Your response to Love determines your destiny.

We will praise Him for all of our days.

Not My Will Be Done

Mark 14:32-42 (NKJV)

32 Then they came to a place which was named Gethsemane; and He said to His disciples, “Sit here while I pray.”

33 And He took Peter, James, and John with Him, and He began to be troubled and deeply distressed.

34 Then He said to them, “My soul is exceedingly sorrowful, even to death. Stay here and watch.”

35 He went a little farther, and fell on the ground, and prayed that if it were possible, the hour might pass from Him.

36 And He said, “Abba, Father, all things are possible for You. Take this cup away from Me; nevertheless, not what I will, but what You will.

37 Then He came and found them sleeping, and said to Peter, “Simon, are you sleeping? Could you not watch one hour?

38 Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.”

39 Again He went away and prayed, and spoke the same words.

40 And when He returned, He found them asleep again, for their eyes were heavy; and they did not know what to answer Him.

41 Then He came the third time and said to them, “Are you still sleeping and resting? It is enough! The hour has come; behold, the Son of Man is being betrayed into the hands of sinners.

42 Rise, let us be going. See, My betrayer is at hand.”

Applications:

There is a Gethsemane that awaits each of us, in trusting the will of God above our will.

When you completely accept God’s will, there is great peace in your soul.
